Open Letter to Morrissey from Franny Darko

A love letter to the man who saved me from my loneliness.

It was in the midst of my teenage rebellion that I discovered the music of The Smiths and Morrissey. I was a lonely teen trying to find my place in this world. I spent countless days and nights in the solitude of my bedroom listening to Morrissey on repeat. Something about Morrissey’s voice and his lyrics gave Me the strength to get through those rocky years.

It was almost like Morrissey was speaking to me through his music, telling me, “Keep on going kid, sing your life, it’s not always gonna be this hard”. So I kept on going and I kept on listening to Morrissey and till this day (16 years later) I still listen to all the Morrissey songs that saved my life and the songs that made me cry.

As long as I live I will love Morrissey. He is my light that never goes out. He stole my heart away.
