Open Letter to Morrissey from Richard Trehy

Dear Morrissey,

It never fails to amaze how the media and now ‘the arts’ (I use this term very loosely) can launch an attack when you have said and done nothing to justify it since we all retreated into our bunkers…

We know that as soon as there is a hint of a record deal, a new release or even a tour…the UK and US press will immediately be on hand to stir the pot. Just as they did within hours of the details of your collaborators on California Son emerging…months before the LP’s release.
Such is life.

As a life-long supporter and friend through music, it is exhausting to watch this cycle continually play out so Lord only knows how you feel.

Yes, it would be easier not to carry on, but you never chose the easy way, and nor should you. Music is the key, you see.

Friends for the rest of our days.

Richard, Milton Keynes, England
