Open Letter to Morrissey from Stephanie Rodrigues

Dear Morrissey

I am Brazilian, and here in my country we highly value music from the 80’s, nationally and internationally. Here we have a very famous national rock band, the Urban Legion, whose vocalist says he was inspired by you. Renato Russo, the band’s lead singer, is now deceased. He had his unique qualities, however, I don’t think there are many similarities between Renato Russo and Morrissey, because for me Morrissey is something completely original and exceptional, both musically and in his sui generis personality.

I became a Morrissey fanatic not long ago, about 3 years ago. I listened to a little bit of everything, listened to The Smiths in the set of songs from the 80s, but I only became a fan from the moment I decided to sing in karaoke. So, I started to listen daily, obsessively. I was addicted to Morrissey’s voice. I fell in love with him. His solo career made me very happy.

I like everything, not only for the magnificent voice, but also for the lyrics of the songs to be completely out of the music industry market and still be pop. Morrissey is really a genius. My life has become more flowery now that I am devoted to him, Morrissey. Love you.

With love

Stephanie Rodrigues
