I fear I may get my personal Facebook page and the Letters to Morrissey Facebook page taken down permanently.
After posting a link to a post from Morrissey Central back in May, I was given a warning by Facebook. I mentioned this to a member of Morrissey’s circle, and it was suggested that I adjust the spelling of the post/song that Facebook deemed as hate speech.
I changed it, but Facebook again took it down and I received a personal ban of 24 hours. Following this, no trace of the post was on the Letters to Morrissey page.
Nevertheless, a month later, Facebook randomly decided to give me a 3 day ban for the same post. I submitted a complaint but no response.
Today I received a 7 day ban on my account for the exact same post, which was taken down in May.
I fear Facebook may just soon ban me completely and I will lose about 10 years of interaction on Facebook. Obviously this is not Morrissey’s fault! But I have no other way of making people aware that my, and Morrissey’s freedom of speech is being dealt with in such a medieval way.
So far, Twitter has not been a problem, but I seldom use it for personal things.
So if I disappear, you will know why.
I love this project, I adore Morrissey, and I guess if I lose my window to my overseas relatives and friends, and all my history and photo albums on my private Facebook, this is the severe price of living in 202084.
