Open Letter to Morrissey from Seán

Fidèle À La Tombe

As no other, our Singer’s words and plangent tone reflect the madness of this spinning shambles
Making the unbearable and insurmountable a faint, but almost achievable possibility
They would have us believe that malevolence simmers in the kernings, stems and apertures
But we know this to be absurd fantasy and bitter, vindictive fallacy
He brings us hope, when we have none, his smile, a gesture and the curve of his brow
His words, his voice, he never shirks, and for this, we will bear no shame.
In god’s honest truth, this is no whim, or cold-hearted strategy
This binding obligation our devout and unburdened honour, steadfast and loyal to the grave.
