Why are you a loyal fan of Morrissey?
Been a fan all my adult life, still love him as much as I did when I was 15 . Still love the build-up to any release, his latest album is ALWAYS his best album, and his gigs still excite and electrify me as much as the first times seeing The Smiths.
What is it that resonates between you and him?
He’s in my heart and in my soul, I’ve grown up with him and he’s grown up with me. He’s provided the soundtrack to everything I’ve ever done, good or bad.
How has he inspired you?
Inspired me to read, and to learn and to write and sing songs. He’s inspired me to travel to see him play many gigs in many countries over many years. He even inspired me to call my son Steven Patrick in his honour.
What is it about his songs that inspire you? Strengthen you? Entertain you?
He has a song, or more than one, that applies to me for everything and for every situation be it happy, sad, funny, sarcastic, cheeky, life, death love, hate, politics.
Do you have a story about when you met him?
I’ve never met him and I don’t really think I need to.
Do you have a story about how you discovered him?
First heard on the John Peel show as a fifteen-year-old. Absolutely instant love of the voice and the lyrics. When I actually first saw Morrissey I was astonished.
